New addition: Recent research documents on Rembrandt’s History Painting

The Museum de Lakenhal (Leiden) and The Cultural Heritage Agency (Amsterdam/Amersfoort) have added a selection of technical documents generated during the 2015-2016 treatment of Rembrandt’s History Painting to the Rembrandt Database.
From October 2015 until August 2016 Rembrandt’s enigmatic History Painting from the Museum de Lakenhal in Leiden was treated by paintings conservator Zeph Benders in the conservation studio of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, under the supervision of its Head of Paintings Conservation Petria Noble. Before and during treatment the painting was scientifically examined. A selection of documents generated during the examination, and the treatment itself, have now been added to the Rembrandt Database. The material shared concerns among other things photographs of paint samples, a research and treatment report, and macro-XRF imaging. This new addition further complements the already present research data added during the initial partnership with the Lakenhal in 2014.
