Available as of now information and documentation about the Kassel Rembrandts
29 August 2014
Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister (Museumlandschaft Hessen Kassel) presents a wealth of information and documentation about five Rembrandt paintings. Of each painting normal light images, X-rays, infraredreflectographs, written documents etc. are available for the visitors of the database. The new data includes the painting “Jacob blessing Manasseh and Ephraim”, which was damaged by an acid-spraying vandal on 7 October 1977. Before and after treatment documents are now accessible on The Rembrandt Database.
Anne Harmssen, Thomas Krämer and Christiane Ehrenforth of the Kassel paintings conservation department have made the documents available and provided us the technical information. We are grateful to dr. Justus Lange (chief curator Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister Kassel), who assisted us in the art historical research.
